MassHealth and PCA Workforce Council in partnership with the UMass Medical School MassAHEC Network are embarking on a new project to recruit and retain new workers who assist the increasing numbers of MassHealth consumers. This project aims to deliver a PCA Recruitment and Retention Initiative to increase the number of Personal Care Attendants employed by MassHealth members and funded under the MassHealth PCA Program.
The project objectives include recruiting, screening, and enrolling eligible applicants who will participate in a twenty-five hour training. The training focuses on understanding roles and responsibilities, implementing positive communication strategies, maintaining consumer confidentiality, promoting safety in the home, using effective infection control practices, and practicing professionalism. Participants will receive additional training in career readiness and be certified in CPR and first aid.
